Elephants

Through my research I discovered that in rural Africa and Asia, there is a conflict underway between humans and elephants. While this might seem preposterousness at first glance, it has to do with the livelihood of the people: vegetation. The elephants are known for “crop raiding”, during which they eat the very plants the people use to survive on and generate their income on. Small scale farms are the most vulnerable to crop raiding. However, once a settlement reaches over 20 dwellings per 2KM, the crop raiding rate decreases. This means that many rural areas turn to more inhumane methods in order to protect their crops. Thus, in  order to prevent these inhumane methods to be deployed, awareness must be spread.
